4) 47 : 51
5) 5 : 19

5.A 10-member family, in which there are 4 children, boards the train at Tuticorin and deboards the train at Arakkonam. What is the fare paid by them? (Given that the ratio of fare of Adult to child is 5 : 2)
1) Rs. 3034
2) Rs. 2832
3) Rs. 2964
4) Rs. 3544
5) Rs. 3262
.
6.Two cards are drawn from a well-shuffled pack of 52 cards. Find the probability that both of them are either red or Kings.
1) 7/13
2) 3/26
3) 63/221
4) 55/221

2) 5/12
3) 1/2
4) 7/9
5) 8/15

Directions (8-10): In each of these questions, two equations (I) and (II) are given. You have to solve both the equations and give answer
1) if x > y
2) if x < y
3) if x ≥ y
4) if x ≤ y
5) if x = y or relation cannot be established between 'x' and 'y'.

8. I.  x(x+7) = 30
   II. y^2 = (2401)^1/2  +(225)^1/2

9. I.  5x^2 - 11x +6 = 0
   II.y^2 -15y +56 = 0

10. I.x^2 = 1296
     II.y(y+7) + 12 = 0

1.(1) Required speed = 430/(11 : 45pm-1: 00 pm) = 430/10: 45 = 40 kmph

2.(5) Total time taken = 11 am – 1 pm = 22 hours
Total halt time = 5 + 10 + 20 + 5 + 5 = 45 minute
if there is no halt then time taken
22 hr – 45 minutes = 21 hr 15 min
So, Required speed = (1140)/21(1/4) = 53 (11/17) kmph.

3.(2), Total income of Railways from Kanyakumari to Madurai
= (fare of adult × No of adult) + (fare of child × No. of children)

4.(2) No. of adults arriving at Renigunta
= (250 + 320 + 150 + 100 + 120 + 80) – (100 + 50 + 230 + 80 + 90)
= 470
No. of children arriving at Renigunita
= (70 + 90 + 70 + 60 + 40 + 20) – (20 + 30 + 50 + 30 + 10) = 210
Required ratio = 470 : 210 = 47 : 21

5.(3) The fare paid by the family = fare of 6 adults + fare. Of 4 children
= 6 × (590 – 200) + 4(590 – 200) × 2/5 = 2964

6.(3) P(E) = 28C2/ 52C2 = 63/221

7.(2) n(E) = (1,1), (1,2), (1,4), (1,6), (2,1), (2,3), (2,5), (3,2) (3,4), (4,1) (4,3) (5,2), (5,6), (6, 1), (6,5),

P(E) = 15/36 = 5/12

8.(5) x = 3,  -10
Y = ± 8

9.(2) x = 1, 6/5
y = 8, 7

10.(5) x = ± 36
Y = - 4, - 3
